C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center was a state prison located in DeQuincy, Louisiana. It primarily served as a facility for male inmates and was managed by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. The center focused on providing various rehabilitation programs aimed at reducing recidivism, which included educational courses, vocational training, and counseling services. The facility was named after C. Paul Phelps, a former secretary of the Department of Corrections in Louisiana. In November 2012, the correctional center was officially closed as part of a cost-saving measure by the state government. After its closure, the inmates were transferred to other facilities within the state’s prison system.
